The GeMiNI (Gender and Environment) network meeting

Amnesty offices, Alsnögatan 11

When: December 16th, 13.30-16.00
Where: Amnesty offices, Alsnögatan 11 (please note that this is a external event)

The GeMiNI (Gender and Environment) Network is hosting a meeting on the different approaches civil society has regarding the extractive industry, with a focus on environment, gender, Human Rights and conflict. As always, the network has the aim of increasing collaboration among Swedish actors working in similar areas.

The event will focus on the extractive industry and explore a tool for business and human rights accountability, developed by Forum Syd. The objective of the meeting is to share lessons learned and effective tools for application. It is also an opportunity to contribute toward strengthening the gender component of Forum Syd’s Business & HR Toolkit.

We will also be joined by Source International, UNDP, Naturvårdsverket and AGU’s Thriving Earth exchange who will present their work with communities and civil society. We will be looking at methods and approaches used to strengthen communities’ resilience, by gaining access to tools for environmental monitoring and local scientific expertise to ensure better responses to community needs.
